Baking Memories for You!

Until I started at a weight management center and met Sally. She said “The only way to lose weight is to eat right!” and “The only way to eat right is cook your own meals!” Doing this meant you had to learn about different foods and food preparations. This learning process required a hands-on approach to researching recipes, obtaining ingredients and cooking meals. Learning these skills sparked my curiosity about all types of cooking methods.

First, I ventured into the world of slow cookers and made some great tasting dishes. Secondly, the things I experimented with were soups, bisques, chowders and chili recipes again wonderful meals.

Neither of these cooking experiences proved to be any more than a daily routine of meal preparation. My curiosity for food preparation had not been satisfied by any of these methods to date. Finally, after many family and neighborhood gatherings something caught my interest which were the desserts.

Fortunately, I have some family members who are great bakers, with pies, pastries, cakes, cookies, brownies, muffins, rolls and bread. The standard was set quite high and a challenge I wanted to attempt. So, little by little I experimented with different recipes and methods. Some successes and lots of failures but never deterred! All the while building my confidence and perfecting the skills to succeed as a baker.
